COMPARISONS

Hagia Sophia

San Vitale has some similarities to churches of the same time period. The Chrysotriklinos, otherwise known as the Golden Hall, “was a domed octagon, similar in plan, as far as we can tell, to the church of S. Vitale at Ravenna.” [8] Also, the church of San Vitale is many times compared and contrasted to the Hagia Sophia, seeing as they were built in the same time period and of the same style.
